I'll jump on the bandwagon (kind of...). As long as you feel confident being able to park the long bed truck wherever you will be going, there isn't any real good reason not to get a long bed. If you need to parallel park anywhere, you won't want a long bed. If you live in or regularly drive in a city, you won't want a long bed. If you don't mind parking a little further out in a suburban parking lot and don't mind not fitting in a garage (its a TRUCK... they get parked in the driveway or backyard) then you'll probably enjoy the longer bed.
More room for a 5er hitch, more room for cargo, more room for full sheet of plywood, you can fit a full size motorcycle in the bed, etc etc.
