Kind of like guys who say that independant torsion bar suspensions are not tough enough to handle heavy duty pickup use. I ride in a 76000 GVWR ladder truck with torsion bar IFS rated at 24K and it rides and handles great. There's no reason coils can't be just as tough as leaves, it's just a different design.
Hell, if Torsion bars are good enough for an M1-A2 Abrams (68 short tons), I'm good with them on a pickup, even if it has a bowtie or 3 letters blazoned on it :).
