RAM 2500 Oil.

Need Help or INF. I bought Used 2008 Ram 2500 turbo Diesel 6.7 Big Horn, Very low Mi. Runs And Looks great, But the first time I had to change the oil,12 Qts, w/new filter, On checking the level to make sure it was up, it was just as black as what I drained out, Is that normal or has anybody had the same thing happen,. Thanks for any thoughts, Ed

    Normal. Last one I had as soon as you cranked it there was enough residual soot to discolor new oil.

    Pretty normal with the pre DEF 6.7's. Don't know about the new ones

    Pretty normal with my 5.9 Cummins. Maybe not as black, but its black pretty fast.

    What kind of oil did you put back in it? Delo? Rotella? Something else? The oil shouldn't look as dirty as it did when you changed it. Unless it wasn't dirty when you changed it in that case it would look the same.
