There's 2-3 people here who would make you think these 2500 rear coil spring trucks ride like a Cadillac. Having said that having realistic expectations on ride quality is the realistic solution.
That is part of the problem. People read or hear these hyperbolic statements and go into the situation with unrealistic expectations.
Neither of you evidently have ridden in a new ram 2500 with rear coils that also have the air leveling system. I haven't ridden in a cadillac for a number of years so can't compare the two rides. I will say for a fact that the ride of the 2019 ram 2500 is not as good as some cars but it's as good if not better than a number of cars I driven. I just made a 1500 trip in one and it rode like a dream. I suspect you guys must own a ford or a chevy.
I feel petty sure that you get much softer coils with the factory air leveling system so the people discussing ride without self leveling could be very accurate about the rough ride.
I find that my F150 with leaf springs and airbags rides much better than a Superduty even that it has the springs to carry as much weight. Notice that I just said springs, not the entire truck. The same springs under a 3/4 ton would yield a good ride and good weight carrying. I can't understand why they don't all do it.
