Ram 2500 weak heater?

Now that winter's properly arrived I'm noticing that the heat in my 2017 2500 isn't that powerful. It takes a good 20 minutes to heat up the cabin into the 70s. It can't compete with any windows being open even partially.

Anyone else noticed the same? I have the super basic work truck heat, single zone with three speed fan.

    That's not right.
    The heat in my Challenger SRT392 comes on crazy fast. It will start blowing heat within 60 seconds of a cold start and the temp ramps up very fast from there.

    gas or diesel?
    if diesel I would plug it in you get heat quite a bit quicker also get the winter front make one to block airflow to the radiator

    my little honda does this, check temp in the antifreeze only 130deg checked air temp coming out of heater 128deg ,mech says stat is stuck open.who knows?

    I have a 2003 dodge diesel that it takes 5-6 miles before it starts to warm up, but it is fine after that.

    Ok so I get heat pretty quickly, but the cabin never gets "hot", like the btu output is just insufficient for the cabin volume and losses.

    i'll find my IR reader and see what readings I get on the outlet, and on the rad reservoir / hoses

    maybe it is a bad stat, I don't recall it being this weak last winter

    If your temp gauge reaches 195-200 the thermostat is doing it's job. If your coolant level is at the correct level you may have a problem with a partially plugged heater core, replacing it is not a job for a DIY mechanic.
