I have the factory running boards. they really do help getting in and out, and that wear on your seat (and legs)
First I looked at a truck without them, I had to lift my 5' tall wife into the truck. I figured that would not do so I found a truck with the factory running boards :) they feel very solid. I hear stones bounce off them so they are also protecting the leading edge of rear fenders.
The running boards interfere with the RAM front mud flaps a little but I got them on.
they end at the back of cab and do not affect the front torklifts.
