Ram 3500 Megacab Dually

Like Jim was saying, yes they did get the cart before the horse in that the adapter was not available in the beginning. Your dealer is feeding you a line of BS on being called back for modifications. He's just never seen one yet and doesn't understand how to go about ordering one.

Once again here is the photo of one to show him. Jim has one also and I've seen a couple of others over on the Cummins Forum. Maybe this is a case of not enough squeak coming from the wheel.



You're right though, this should have never happened. Oh the old president Fred did leave a couple of months ago for Nissan. Don't have to worry about 5er hitches over there :B

Would it have been better to give you an adapter that may have had an engineering defect? Believe it or not, this is "good customer service".

The Big Three for too long have been accused of treating "first year of new model" customers as test subjects. That's why everyone says "wait for the second year, when they've worked the bugs out".

Granted, having to wait for an adapter that you may need sux...but getting an adapter with a problem would be far worse IMHO.

I had the same "thoughts" when I purchased my first Dodge truck in 2010....fit and trim were great though, less noise inside the cab than in my other trucks, no problems with the looks of the truck or anything else for that matter....but I understand why some think that way about the Dodge/Ram trucks...I did too until I actually purchased one, used it as a daily driver and towed with them for over 3 yrs now . Thought I'd miss my Allisons, but in reality, I was wrong on that one too, but again, I was the same way, until I owned one...now I feel differently about them...but again, my first one was a 2010....I do know there are a lot of misconceptions out there about the newer Dodge/Ram trucks that are wrong, but again, guess until you've owned a newer one, driven it daily and towed with it, you just won't know.

I'd take that "piced of junk" Dodge back, can't believe they'd do you that way....doggone, yeah, take it back, not worth it. Why would someone "slap the snot" out of you??...your money, your decision in the long run....take the truck back this morning...

I ordered my Ram truck on 5 Dec. 2012....waited long enough, didn't know what price would be, had no idea on anything about it, BUT the 2010 had been such a great truck, I bought a 12'....truck that I ordered on 5 Dec. got to the lot on 4May (if I'm not mistaken) I told them 4 or 5 times, I didn't want the 13'...made me a deal I couldn't refuse...drove the 13' off the lot on May 9th..(5 months after ordering).....TRUCK IS AWESOME!!! BUT, no adapter for my hitch...2 months later...I get the adapter...SEVEN MONTHS AFTER I ORDERED THE TRUCK!!! BUT I was mad at Chrysler for dropping the ball on the adapter....NOT MAD at Chrysler because I bought their truck...NO REGRETS on the purchase of the truck, zip, nil nada..this is my 3rd one..

If I were you, seeing as how you have such a negative opinion of Ram before you purchased the truck, and now mad because of the adapter, and believe me, I can't blame you AT ALL on that one, I believe that every little thing that may come up on the truck, you'll wished you had never bought it...See if you can take it back and run as fast and as far away from a Ram dealership as you can....I believed you've already convinced yourself you'll not be happy with this truck..

To me, this is the best looking truck on the market right now, inside and out, all the new renovations makes it even better...rides great and if it tows anywhere near like my 10 and 12 did, (and it should do better), it'll be hard for me to wipe the grin off my face..and the mpg increase from the 10' and the 12' to the 13' was worth it with the non issue DEF..but I digress....see if you can get rid of the truck....your dealer told you wrong on the adapter. have them get in touch with their Chrysler rep, use your VIN number to order and I would think you would have one in a week or less....but I don't know that for sure.....

Anyway, again, great looking truck, but it appears you'll never be happy with it no matter, see if you can get your money back...Only issue I've had in the 3 years I've owned the Dodge trucks, has been waiting sooooo long on a 13' to the point I bought the 12' and getting VERY VERY mad about the 5th wheel picture frame adapter....BUT, not mad about purchasing the truck..................not even hardly:)

Could have the GM service that poster had on another thread here....you know, blown head gasket on his 100,000 mile duramax.

I bought my 98 because of the Cummins but after 380K the truck has been awesome. Never too impressed with the 3rd gen trucks but starting in 2010 they really raised the bar and they just keep making improvements, so much so I am thinking about a 14!
