I had the factory air suspension on my '97 light duty F250, and repeatedly blew the air bags. Since it was an integrated suspension system, the chassis would sit on the bump stops even with no load after a failure. At least with aftermarket air bags you still have a suspension if a bag should fail. I believe the problem was in the design of the bags, where one side of the bag inverts into the other. Any suspension movement causes rubbing and wear in this area. It was nice when it worked. Load the camper and the truck squats. After a minute or so the compressor kicks on and the truck levels.
