Ram 6.4 Gas Mileage

Interested to know what people are getting for Gas mileage with the 6.4 Hemi in the 2500 Ram. I'm considering a new 2014 crew cab Outdoorsman with 4.10 axle ratio.

  • Some guys seeing 18 mpg in a 6.4 and some guys seeing 12-14ish (which is on par with the 6.2 and 6.0 gas from Ford and Chevy). Ram needs to find out what they did right when they made the 18 mpg trucks and replicate it so all of their 6.4s can share in that kind of mileage.
  • My numbers are hand calculated, but the evic has proven to be within 0.5 mpg. Much more accurate than my 03 mpg readout was.
  • OP, Whoever you ask, make sure they tell you hand calculated numbers and not what the Lie-O-Meters says. My 2014 Ram CTD EVIC numbers are always 2 mpg more than my hand calculated numbers. I am not the only one either. Many in the forums are that way too. My 2011 F150 was always .5 mpg of my hand calculated mileage. What ever formula Ram uses to calculate mileage, they need drop it and follow Fords formula.
  • Hi with mine and its a DRW CC. Towing 8,000 lbs loaded with a lower
trailer and keep speed to 55 or 60 mph 10 mpg. Unloaded as its my
daily driver 12.3 mpg.I do have 3.73 rear gears. I chart my fuel use
Fuelly.com and my last 10 fill up are 12.3

    X2. Very happy with mine.

I get about 8 mpg pulling 12k of 5er, 18 mpg when running empty on the highway, 14 mpg or so in mixed driving, and 11-13 mpg city.

X2 except I get a hair better towing due to a lighter trailer @ about 8500#. Overall, I'm super happy with the truck, the towing performance and the mpgs. I'd buy one again in an instant.
  • I saw about 7mpg on a 2100 mile trip from central OH to Orlando with my 6.4/4.10 Hemi and a ~12k loaded fifth wheel.

It has just under 9,000 miles on it now. I have been seeing closer to 12mpg empty with a mix of city/freeway since it got cold and I have been using the remote start a little. When it was warmer, I saw 13-13.5mpg empty.

I was really hoping to see closer to 15, so maybe this summer with some miles on it, I will see that.
