this thread is very interesting to me as I've been considering "upgrading" from my 2010 5.7 Tundra to a Ford or Ram 3/4 ton gasser, been doing lots of comparing on the 6.2 ford and the 6.4 Ram, also checking prices around the country. I'm looking at the Tradesman w/chrome package level in the ram and the xlt level in the ford.
my local dealers want 36k for the ram and around 38k for the f250. I've seen the ram as low as 32k on auto trader. I've owned a ram/dodge 2500 back in 96, and a f250 7.3 oil burner in 01, both trucks served me well and I have no real brand loyalty. I personally think the Ford is a better looking truck, but that's just me and not to say that the new Ram is bad looking...is definitely has a "tough" looking stance.
I test drove a 2014 ram 2500 and thought it did drive nice for a 3/4 ton truck, it's been years since I drove a HD FORD, so I really can't remember how stiff the ride was.
on the reliability side, I have friends who have had bad experiences with previous years dodges, so I'm a little gun shy, but I've also heard that Ram has recently stepped up their game.
I'm only towing my outback 250rs (7600 gvwr) ~10 times a year, so comfort when empty is a consideration for me as well.
any advice anyone can give me on both is greatly appreciated.
