Ram 6.4 reviews

O.K. all you new RAM 6.4 owners out there---what do ya think of your rig? No hype, just the truth!! We're thinking about buying one and would like real world knowledge on them.
That guy from Canada has posted a bunch of interesting info on his rig. Lets hear from the rest of you folks.
  • 3500 SRW. Just under 12k mi. No issues. Get 18mpg's on the highway. 13-14 towing my mowers around. Oh ya ive got the 3:73 gears. Power is great. I've towed a 12k mini a few times. Handled it well. Theres a lengthy thread on ramforumzs.com its in the "sticky" section. Over 160 pages of reading.
  • We love ours. Just got back from a trip to the Ozarks and averaged about 9.5 towing our 7,500 pound trailer. The truck has plenty of power, feels very sturdy, and I also like the factory brake controller.

I was tailgating last night before the Colts/Eagles game and several people wanted to see it and ask questions about it.

I did a search, but nothing yet. I just need a little more info before I pop out a bunch of bucks. So far, all I've heard about them is good. So good, they aren't on the lots like the diesel engine rigs. Thanks to all..

    18 mpg empty
    Over 400 hp
Over 400 lb ft of tq
Can pull 15k lbs over all the US and Canada.
Has a significant amount of HP more than it's diesel counterpart (save to thst fancy named transmission model)

Modern gassers have a lot to offer.

I was looking at the 2015 Chevys 2500 with the 4:10 axle and the 6.0 gas and they are rated up to 14,500 in fifth wheel tow rating.

Ram would win that IMHO just based on the hp.

    Thanks!

  • I had one for 2 weeks as a loner for my diesel. It was a 3500 DRW Laramie Crew. It pulled my 7,000 pound work trailer around very well. It liked the higher RPMs to get the job done, but it did get it done. Mileage around here pulling the trailer was in the low 9's. If you been to Branson Mo., you have an idea of the roads where I am at, 30 miles west of Branson on the west side of Table Rock Lake.
  • You might do a search if folks don't chime in.
Basically people like them and they get decent mileage.
