So I called a dealer in Bellingham Wa and asked about this. They told me the cords are not put on the trucks.
"If Equipped" or "Optional". No such language was present under the Engine Block Heater section.
I think you are a bit harsh with RAM when you should be taking this issue up with your selling dealer. They should have discussed with you your needs based on your traveling plans.
As the other posts mentioned, the block heater comes installed in the engine from Cummins, you just need to add the power cord.The cold weather option group adds the front grill cover and the block heater power cord.
BTW, in big headline bold print, in the owner's manual, it states;
"ENGINE BLOCK HEATER — IF EQUIPPED"
Page 227 in my hard copy of the Diesel Supplement Owner's Manual.
Well my Owners manual says no such thing. Yours could be a later edition where it could have been corrected. Mine is a First Edition.
As for being "harsh" on Ram. I dont think I was. The dealer does not build the truck nor do they write the owners manual nor do they decide what is optional. Nor do they spec what Cummins puts in the engine. This was clearly a Manufacturer issue.
