I learned something new today as well. Every Diesel I have bought (in the past) has had a block heater and cord.
If it were a Ford 7.3 or 6.0 it was also in the oil cooler and heated the oil. Those engines were hydraulic oil pressure fired injectors that would not start.
Cummins really does not need block heater nor do any modern diesel unil its really really cold. They have an intake grid heater that heats the intake air. Have started a many diesel engine on a boat in 30* weather with a heatgun in the intake.
I figured. Cold thick oil and they will not fire, especially once some miles were racked up If they did they would chug,romp, chatter and smoke like crazy
