For the last four days I have been on my way from Tucson to Alaska. I am now in Bellingham Wa. Arrived yesterday afternoon.
If I may let me respond to a few things:
I am due to be in Fairbanks on the 15th of March. With weather taken into account and the fact that I am hauling my 33 foot trailer, I need to get my oil changed (here in Bellingham) and a lot of other stuff, I was not interested in relying on an internet ordered cord to arrive without incident. Thus I called the Dealer from Tucson to see if he had the cords.
Then I called FCA.
Thanks to all of those with suggestions of where to get cheaper cords they are all great ideas for sure but mine from the dealer is cheaper still since FCA Ram is paying for it.
Had my truck been out of warranty and my time a bit freer, I have lots to do here in Bellingham before crossing over into Canada, I would have gone the order-it-off-the-internet route. But thanks to all for those suggestions.
Finding out that it did not have a Cord was just part of getting ready for this trip as I havn't been anywhere I would need to use the block heater before this.
I have driven the highway a couple of other times to Alaska once in the winter also. (1972)as well as last spring (May) So I am aware of what I need to do to the truck. But thanks for all the suggestions on that score too.
What is interesting is to hear about who got a truck with a cord and who didn't. And what year they were. Like I said before I never even thought to ask about it as every diesel I have owned came with one both bought outside of cold weather climes.
