Welding the nuts is an interim step until there are enough of a different design drag links available. I found the far side lock nut loose on mine and put a liberal amount of blue loc-tite on it before re-tighten it. So far it has not loosened again.

All it effects is centering of the steering wheel. There is a lot of discussion on this subject on the TDR.

Bottom line be sure the two nuts are tight and don't worry about it until they have replacement parts.
