Using the EB on full is the best way to slow your truck down. You were using it wrong. The EB will not work at all in 1st gear. Read prior posts in this thread to explain how and why it works. I only tow 8500 lbs, but my EB will scrub a lot of speed quickly in full mode and tow/haul turned on.
So if the road required 1st gear, TC won't lock in first gear and the EB doesn't work at all in 1st or with the TC unlocked. What should I have done different?
Use your brakes. Unless you are greatly overloaded then in that same situation, lock it in 2nd with TH on and EB on full (I believe the icon on the dash is yellow in full). You may still have to use your brakes to control the speed.
