Rick, I owned 4 Chevy D/A's...didn't have one with the EB, but you're right the Allison is an awesome tranny..I can also compare to the Aisin, and it too does an awesome job. Dont know why some act differently, but driving down long steep grades, again, between the EB and tranny on my truck,it could literally almost bring my truck to a stop, when I let off on the throttle. On winding, steep mountainous secondary roads, taking sharp curve after sharp curve in WV, TN and VA, I decelerate going into the curve and between the EB and tranny, I'm still slowing in 1st, going under 1000 rpm's, and I've been doing this kind of towing for almost 2 and a half years. Actually for about last 40 years, but from 01 through mid 2010, it was with Chevy D/A equipped trucks, from mid 2010, it's been Dodge/ Ram trucks...last 2.5 years with my Cummins/ Aisin combo with 4.10.. Never an issue in slowing, braking and stopping. A lot has to do with experience in towing in the mountains also.
