I'm not sure if the experience comment was aimed at me or not. I have a decent amount of experience towing in the mountains, just the first time with this truck and a diesel in general. I came down just fine a perfectly safe. I just thought the EB would have played a larger roll in the decent. Some are still confusing a long steep grade on an interstate in 3rd,4th or 5th gear with a 15mph secondary highway in 1st.
It's clear after reading starting this thread why the EB wasn't on on my particular decent.
Did not mean it as a cut as far as experience towing in the mountains...I tow over same mountainous roads year after year, Was talking more about me
I do understand your comments on towing steep, extremely curvy mountainous secondary roads. I tow them in NC, TN,VA and WV... curves so sharp you can't take them more than 5 mph...I've towed them for 40+ years.. You go from one curve, maybe build a speed of 15 to 20 mph before you make anorher switch back, Rt. 3 in WV is just one example, much steeper and curvier than 226. . I have had no issues with trucks EB and/or tranny slowing me down....it' Very rare I manually gear down.
I only used Interstate mountains to say it's a little easier to gain speed there than on those mountainous, curvy secondary roads.
Didn't mean to offend you... Wasn't my intention. My experience with my truck and what I was towing, (39' 9" 5er with CAT scale weight of 16,400#), hasn't been the same as yours , as far as slowing, when I've towed in the same type terrain as you have
