Actual the Allison 1000 has run out of gas at current Duramax ratings, and they have dropped out of the HP/torque race. The FORD Torque Shift transmission and the Aisin are both much stronger and very reliable.

Sir you beat me to it! The Aisin is a TRUE Medium Duty Trans, along with the MediumDuty Cummins is a solid combo
The Allison in the LD trucks is not the same as in MD applications. Yes it is a great trans but as Chris points out it needs a Major updating.
I have to admit the Aisin trans is pretty good. That's whats in my wife's Kia Sorento.:)
