RAM REAR BACK UP CAMERA

I have a 2013 Ram that have the nifty little back up camera mounted in the tailgate.
Of course with the mounting of the truck camper the tailgate is now removed.

I have managed to purchase the OEM camera that I will mount in a waterproof box, but I'm having a difficult time finding the correct OEM cable to connect the camera to the cable in the truck bed.

Has anybody tried to do this yet with their new RAM?

I need to do something similar for my friend's 2014 RAM 3500 Cummins. I would like to mount the new camera above the camper door near the center clearance lights on a Lance 1050S truck camper. Where did you get the replacement camera? What model, etc.

Also, please keep this thread informed on what new cable you finally ended up using: manufacturer, part number, source, etc.

    Thank you,
    LeRoy

EDIT: I corrected a spelling error.

    OEM RAM Camera

I have seen this link before but that is too complicated of an install.
There has to be an OEM cable that will do the job. I really just need the existing cable that is coming out of my tailgate that already has the camera attached o it. Plug that into my new camera and into the harness on the truck bed.

What I plan to do is purchase an OEM cable (Camera/Lock Harness: 68189124AB), match the wires and shielding that is being used, and lengthen the OEM cable by splicing in the new wire.

The DIY thread was all about adding a camera where one does not exist. I referenced that thread so you could find the cable listed above.
  • I haven't had a chance to work on it yet but I've bought the parts from Tasca online: www.tasca.com

I bought the camera and the wiring harness that is inside the tailgate. The wiring harness has one end that plugs into the pigtail of the camera and the other end has the plug that fits the plug at the end of the bed that you disconnect to remove the tailgate. I'll probably have to splice the wires in the harness to make it long enough but that won't be too difficult.

Part numbers are: 56054164AB for the camera and 68051748AB for the harness. Please don't just take my word on the part numbers though, double check them before ordering.
