Thanks for the clarification. 5.5 gallon def tank makes sense. 250 miles between gas stops is much better than I get now. I am looking at 160 now. Every 2.5 hours I have to find a gas station that will fit our 68' of length. Don't get me wrong, my truck has been awesome. No issues what so ever. I am just looking for a little more power and economy. Amazing that both are offered in today's new trucks.
Depending on how long my trip was is how I usually determined when I stopped. I don't like running down to the red zone on my trucks. If the trip was say 500 or so miles then I would google map the stops I felt were the easiest to get into around 200-250 miles because i knew I would really be pushing my luck on two tanks if it were over 500. Never fails that you are ten miles to your destination and the light comes on and then you get caught in a traffic jam. LOL! Just an FYI, before I put the tank in the bed I always carried at least one 5 gallon jug of diesel with me if I knew I would run close.
