Not hijacking thread and correct me if I'm wrong, but rule of thumb is diesels pretty much ave 10-12 mpg towing so with a 30 gallon tank that spells 300 miles per tank. I've always calculated my stops based on at least 50 to 75 miles left till empty to give myself some breathing room so to speak. Though I have replaced stock tank w/ Transferflow 50 gallon, like to go for 350-400 miles till I need fuel with approx 10 gallons left. Based on this, that's about 4-5 hours drive time give/take. Once you know where your going, can always look online to see where the truck stops are along the way and figure out how far you can go before needing fuel. Knock on wood, that's worked for us.
OP, I thought I was long at 54.5' in length!! What kind (length) is your sled trailer? My sled trailer is a 4 place V-nose and about 50' in length. Between towing the RV and sled trailer, I'd rather tow the RV.
