Ram's new tailgate design

Didn't the Ford Excursion have that type of tailgate? Lift the top half up, and the bottom tailgate half was separated in the middle and hinged on both sides.

I like!!! If it works, I can picture uses already!

There's probably a bunch of people on here with dents in their tailgate from the tongue jack, who probably would appreciate that tailgate.

Maybe because no one else is doing it , and it's an innovative way to "one up" the other manufactuers..?? heck, who knows?


I don't much care for it, but can see where it could work for certain applications. I don't take my tailgate off my truck....no reason to....
