I have owned many trucks, but only one diesel.
We selected our 1st Fiver based on what me 5.3 GMC could tow; and set my limit to a 25 foot low profile.
My 2001 SB EC "Work Truck" (3.73, and a posi) towed fell on the flats. As the previous poster noted; it's the hills that get you.
I cam across a great deal on a 2003 GMC 2500HD in South Texas (It was not 4WD and the dealer was hot to get rid of it)
Bone stock the truck would tow my 25 foot Fiver like it was not even there. The addition of a Edge tuner; modified stock airbox with cold air induction and Bilstien shocks; its capabilities were transformed.
Now; I have a truck that rides very well; get 21 to 22 unloaded and 17 to 14 loaded and can run down a Mustang on the high level tunes.
My wife and I are discussing trading in her car for a diesel sedan. The Toyota in my signature has a "new" used 2.4 turbo Diesel engine from Japan sitting in the workshop.
Diesels rule in my opinion; and as technology marches on they just get better and better.
My honest experience.
