I have also fixed TWO leaks in my fresh water tank from the inside by going through the inspection port.... but I couldn't have done it if the inspection port had not been there. Not as easy anyway.

Glad that inspection/access port has been such a help. I loved having it on my Lance water tank, and I added water to the tank from a 5 gallon bucket several times while dry camping. Also great for cleaning the inside of the tank. When I got a Class C, an access port on the potable water tank was one of the first mods I did. Don't know why the manufacturers don't provide such a port (at least as an option).
