northwest,
I understand the issue, I have a 2005 dodge diesel extra cab 2x4,
with that diesel engine, we do not need to get off the pavement if the ground is wet, do not remember how much that engine weighs, but the front will go down quick.
my truck has positive traction, both back wheels will pull, how I know is when the rear tires are a bit slick, if the pavement is wet you give it too much fuel and the rear will try to get sideways in a heart beat.
nice truck, you just have to know its limitations, good fuel mileage,
do you have tow hooks on the front, if not you need to get a set, these trucks should never have been allowed to leave the factory without tow hooks.
I have Michelins highway tread tires, ride and drive good, but not mud tires by any stretch.
