On our recent trip of over 500 miles of towing (round trip) I got the best mileage ever, 11.3 mpg. 2007 Tahoe 5.3L pulling about a 4200 lb trailer and I just waxed the trailer before leaving. Now I don't think that waxing increased my MPG's but I use full synthetic oil, a K&N filter, I use a Top Tier fuel and, most important, I drove at 58 mph with Tow Haul turned on and not in Overdrive and I think all of that helped increase my MPG's.
