Reaching out for advice

I'm reaching out for some help/advice. Have a 2012 Cougar 5th wheel and a 2005 GMC 2500 HD with Duramax/Allison. We're in Charleston, SC (far away from our New Hampshire home) and were in a collision with our tow vehicle. We thought sure it would be totaled by the insurance co., but they say it's repairable. Now we've got to find a good repair shop for body and mechanical work. You wouldn't think a guy of almost 72 would be struggling with what to do and how to do it right, but neither my DW or I has been in an accident in the almost 50 years we've been married. Any advice or recommendations about finding a reputable repair shop in the Charleston area would be greatly appreciated. Guess we're feeling a bit lost right now!

    This is why I have an insurance agent. When my truck was hit a couple years ago they called and took care of everything for me, if you have one call them and they will help it is their job.

    Our insurance company gave us the name and location of a couple of local repair shops that they worked closely with. We picked one of them. They did a first rate job, on time and handled all of the paper work.

    A Chevrolet dealer would be my first choice if the insurance company is unable to recommend a repair shop.

    I would have a Chevy/GMC dealer do it. Our insurance company (State Farm) has a list of approved repair facilities. Call and ask.

    Caliber Collision has a shop there. They did good work for me. They are a national chain. Work with most insurance companies.

    Who was at fault? If your insurance there are currently considerations that may be different then if another party is responsible.

    I got a Lifetime warranty by using the place my insurance company recommended.I'd check with my insurance company if I were you.

    I live in Canada so thus may not apply to you but worth asking.
    If I use a shop recommended by my insurance company, my insurance company will warranty the repairs.

    x2 and insist on OEM repair parts being used. A lot of times insurance companies will try to use jobber parts which are inferior in quality.

    I was broadsided by a woman running a red light 4 years ago so I can relate to the stress and anxiety you are feeling. Please just try to relax and take the time that you need to recover physically and emotionally. Getting your truck repaired is important but not nearly as much as looking after your wife and yourself. Hopefully you will find a good reputable shop to at least help you out with that part of an extremely stressful situation.
