Almost there.
Your welder should have added in "gussets" which spread the load across more area. Basically you are depending on two measly welds about 1 1/2" long where the tubing connects to the "C" channel.
Gussets are basically steel "triangles" placed on each side of the tubing, this increases the weld area and spreads the load out and away from the tubing.
I would also suggest additional "plates" on the sides of the tubing where is was spliced unless the welder used a smaller piece of tubing inside the tubing to increase the strength of the joints.
There is considerable amount of shock which will happen and that is what the additional bracing is for.
