I had a trailer with a similar custom set up and I never had any issues with the welds or rack. With that said I had more than one person tell me the bikes and rack bounced around enough they were hesitant to follow behind me. I believe what they said because the bikes really got beat up hitting each other. My suggestion would only use a rack that has the tires in a rail and the bikes can be stabilized so they don't touch each other. You also need to get an anti-rattle devise so there is zero play with the rack in the receiver.
