Rear bike rack setup.....
....hi everyone...I had my dealer install this 2" receiver to the rear of our keystone passport TT last year and was wondering what everyone thinks of the design. Specifically, do I need be concerned...

molardog - what a disappointment. I read page 5 first then just got done reading the whole thread. You've put in a lot of effort and many people have provided great input.
My neighbor also lost his rear bumper mounted bikes from his new TT and replaced the bumper with stronger thicker square tube and gusseted connections to his trailer frame. Think I'll point him to this thread.
DW and I want to take our bikes, but like you we feel we've spent enough on TT and want to minimize spending on add-ons. We are fortunate that we have only need for two bikes for just us. That means less bikes (weight, etc.) and truck bed instead of Suburban. We also don't like the bikes in the weather or easy theft so have them tucked nicely into the truck bed on a front forks mount with a cab high topper over everything. I am loving that solution for us (double locked as previously mentioned).
Hope you can come up with a good solution for your 4 bike family needs. Just a thought as another kind of suggested, can you split it up? two bikes one spot and 1 or 2 bikes stowed elsewhere? Or perhaps now that you have the dog episode behind you you'll be set from here on out for safe front storage.
