Rear SlideOut Without Bunks

I amy trying to find a HYBRID trailer without the use of canvas. I believe my only option is a REAR SLIDE OUT but I am open for options. All the Rear Slides I have found so far have bunks in the front. Since I am single, this is a waste of space. Does anyone know of a Rear Slide Out Trailer without bunks on an additional slide on the front. Weight and size are not a problem. Make and model appreciated. Thanks.

You can check out Forest River V-Lite 21 WRS. It is a mid-line hard sided rear slide w/o bunks. I have the 2012 and have had basically no problems to speak of. It has been a great unit for me and the wife. Small for towing yet plenty of room when the slide is out. You can access everything except the dinette when the slide is in.

    missed that one.:S

you can also look at the Rockwood twin of the 21WRS, the Windjammer 2102W. probably lot more of those out there, with better prices, since RVW and RVDirect sell the Rockwood.

  • After posting, got curious about when that model was made...seems like it's being brought back. See if it shows up in the FR/ROO catalog - which is notoriously out of date - or google it. I saw several listed as brand new 2013. They may show them in conjunction with a hybrid picture, but the floorplan is definitely the 21RS. Things may be looking up! Good luck
  • What Dan said. Seems most of the rear slide "expandables" have bunks. The 21RE s a nice unit and would certainly offer you what you need and not a bunch of stuff you don't need. Agree that it was a limited run, but don't know what years. Find the Forest River website/Rockwood Roo and they may offer some pictures of the inside. If not there, just start googling the model and there will be dealers that will have pictures. Know going in that rear slide models, especially without the bunks, are not going to be on every corner. Don't know which FR factory built this model - might start with Millersburg, IN - and ask them for a list of dealers who have ordered this model and also the years it was produced and start checking. Good luck.

a rear hard-sided slide trailer is NOT a hybrid. to be called a "hybrid" requires the mixing of canvas bed ends with the body of a travel trailer.
a trailer with a rear hard-sided slideout can be called an "expandable", but it isn't a hybrid since it has no canvas.

a trailer like what you're talking about, is no different than a regular travel trailer, except its slideout is on the back, instead of on the sides, like regular travel trailers. that's why at least Forest River calls them a travel trailer and not a "hybrid".

we also looked for what you want, a rear slideout with no bunk beds.
the only one we found was the Rockwood Roo 21RS, with the front kitchen instead of bunk beds. they only made this version, a season or two.

  • Yeah, rear king slide models since 2010. Early models are plagued with growing pains. Demo the bunks in the front and do as you please.
  • just rebuild the bunks...not a very big mod. take them out and put a desk or make a wardrobe or put a couch there, 2 recliners. Sky is the limit
