Yes, the old Mopar truck is a charmer. Just remember that the frames on these old trucks were never intended to cope with 500-900 pound feet of torque you can squeeze of a Cummins. It must be correctly boxed like the big boys to give enough strength. I lived through the early days of diesel power in Dodge trucks and it was almost comical how the 5.9L Cummins ate the frame, suspension and especially the wimpy Dana 70 rear end. Too thin and not enough spline count in the axle shafts; much too weak a RG&P; full floating bearings not up to the task. Even the housings got twisted up. Mopar engineers were just hoping the CTD would not pull their outdated technology apart, to no avail. But, they eventually learned.
