Ford don't make them, some Chinese manufacturer makes them (Just like the Furrion).

I need to hear about the issues of a wireless cam. I have none with mine. In fact mine works with the truck 100 feet from the camper.

My view is 40 feet of cable and various RCA plugs present more of a connection issue than an AM low power signal ever will.

Ford also makes designated trailer cameras for mere $500 ... wired. But why would I leave good camera with tailgate at home and spend that kind of money for another one?

I think you and I are in slightly different situations. I have at least 40 feet between my tailgate and the rear of my fifth wheel. I definitely need wireless.

I'd like to add a camera to my 5er too. I have the tailgate cam on my RAM, but it doesn't do me any good when I'm towing. The rear of our 44' fiver is pretty far back there and I'm really limited in my backing if I don't have a buddy with me.

Questions:

* What kind of technologies should I be looking at in a camera? Roof mount, license plate mount, etc.

* What wireless technologies are available? Will the camera beam the signal the 50 feet or so from the rear of my 5er to the cab of my truck?

* What monitor options should I research? I'd rather not add another display to my truck. I already have my tailgate cam that displays in my mirror when I'm backing up, plus the nav display, and I have a little screen for my TPMS. How good are the visor displays? Or can I view a signal on my iPhone? The iPhone probably isn't the best choice because of the size of the screen and the awkwardness of holding onto the phone while I'm backing up (illegal).

* How easy are the cameras to mount and wire?

The Furrion also has night vision. It works very well.

Go to Amazon and type in backup camera. Got mine from there. Tailgate latch with camera for 1500 Ram ($108) along with replacement mirror (Boyo) that has two camera inputs, temp, and compass ($129). Regular back up cameras start at $16.99 on up.

I 2nd Buzzcut. I have a 2 camera system from them and it works well.
I bought the ones with the built in transmitters (antenna on camera)

I have a https://www.tadibrothers.com wireless system that i really like. Best part is the military spec night vision. I can see whats behind me when backing at night and while driving down the road

I got a Furrion as a Christmas present from my wonderful wife, she put it on my CC and I payed for it....lol

Because I have an older truck (1997), it don't have all the electronic gizmo's and nav system (fine with me) so the Furrion is my ticket.

The Furrion comes with a really neat housing and remote view screen and it can be programmed with the backup grid or just a no grid view with the touch of a button Color is excellent. clarity is excellent and I can see everything behind me, including my quads on the trailer. because it's wireless, it's basically a stupid easy install. I use it all the time, even without the trailer. Makes changing lanes or merging on an on ramp a piece of cake and I can watch the people behind me pick their noses if I want to. Now that I have it, I wonder how I did without it.
