Gee Lessmore we didn't need to we knew you GM boys would be all over it, after all Ford and Chrysler are involved.
Funny though Nutz forgot to include GM's four air bag recalls. Also this "April 29, 2014 - 2:49 pm ET DETROIT -- GM was reluctant to recall 1.2 million vehicles for airbag issue. Even after revealing that it waited years to recall cars in which faulty ignition switches caused airbags to fail, a General Motors document suggests the automaker last month remained reluctant to issue a recall for a long-known problem with airbags on more than 1 million other vehicles. Instead, GM on March 13 approved a less-urgent customer-satisfaction campaign -- which is not monitored by government regulators and typically less costly to automakers -- to address an airbag flaw affecting the GMC Acadia, Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Enclave and Saturn Outlook crossovers." LINKY LINKY they just don't get it do they. Maybe the record fine coming down the pike might do something to wake them up.
People in glass houses there Nutz.
Don
Don...this is exactly what I'm talking about.
Brand loyalty.
I've mentioned before ...ALL COMPANIES....are affected by recalls. Many use the same suppliers....so many parts are the same...with the same good and bad designs.
I've....and/or my family members have had GM, Ford, Mopar, Toyota, Nissan, VW, Volvo, etc....and they all have issues....all have had recall...all have had lemons in their respective vehicle lines.
In my humble opinion and observation...all manufacturers ...pretty almost without exception...try to avoid recalls because of the great expense.
It's the business part that looks at how the most profit an be made per unit, and the balancing act between profit per unit, vs cost per unit.
Compromises are made, decisions are made and sometimes those compromises and decisions are in error.
Every manufacturer, whether they make widgets or warplanes is subject to these factors.
Without exception.
These latest airbag recalls affect significantly older vehicles from a lot of different manufacturers. My question, why just the huge recalls as of late?
The answer my friend, I believe is in the earlier part of my response.
I've probably been around longer than most....I'm no spring chicken (mid-60's)...and I understand the Bench racing aspect of Ford Vs Chevy...and other rivalries.
When I was a young man I had a '67 Camaro...one of my closest friends had a high performance 289, '66 Mustang.
I recall the motorcycle wars of the 1960's....Triumph/ Norton
vs Harley. I was a Norton motorcycle guy.
In the '40's it was HD vs Indian motorcycles.
It used to be fun back in the muscle car and muscle bike, days of the 1960's.
But now it seems, there are a few (not all) who just sit in wait to stir up animosity and then sit back and enjoy the senseless recriminations thrown back and forth.
It's a waste of effort on everyone's part, including me and when you think about it......a Ford, Chevy, Dodge, etc...are just machines.
When it comes to current pickups, I would say without any doubt....they're all good and there's little to choose between them......except whatever happens to be the consumer's favourite
brand.
The other thing I know.....and you do too...is that every brand in the future will have a design/ part issue and as a result there will be a recall.
