I get why you guys suspect that would be an issue, but I’ve never had that problem in about 15 years of doing it that way, and that’s with an 11.5 camper that has tanks below the rear.
If you have a 4WD truck and a basement model camper that hasn’t got low-hanging rear drain tanks, you have tons of clearance.
You’re probably not doing any extreme offroading with a camper and an 8000+ pound trailer anyway.
Four and five foot long hitches have as much issue bottoming out on the ground if you’re driving somewhere that extreme.
