Recommendations for a preferred TPMS System.

My main concern is your preferred Vendor for a TPMS system.
My tow vehicle has the tire Pressure sensors mounted inside the rims.
The sensors match my external, hand held digital tire pressure gauge.

My concern is with the 4 tires on my dual axle tag along travel trailer.

I am considering purchasing and installing a TPMS system on the 4 tires for my tag along.

What about the Doran 360RV, the TST, or this another option to review and consider?

  • TST 507 system here. I have had it for a little over a year and it works perfectly. The only time it has "saved me" so far was my error. I had checked the pressure in my 5'er tires late one evening before an early morning departure from a very quiet campground. I didn't want to run my air compressor immediately prior to departure out of courtesy to the other campers. Obviously I didn't screw the wheel sensor back on tight enough on one wheel and it had been leaking overnight. I had moved 50' or so and the TST alarm went off. Since I saw it was low pressure I left the park and stopped on the road right out front. Fired up my generator and compressor and aired the tire back up, it was only down about 10 psi, and went on my way. The TST system allowed me to watch that tire until I arrived at my destination. The pressure help up so obviously I was the error. I would have left the site with a low tire and not known it without a TPMS system.

Yeah I know if I hadn't had the TPMS system I wouldn't have made the mistake of not tightening the sensor enough, but then I wouldn't have the TPMS system either. At last I won't do that again.
  • Love my Pressure Pro. FYI my TV is a 2010 Ford which has some sort of useless pressure sensors on a strap on the rim, inside the tire. I change wheels between summer and winter, and I do not bother with the stupid Ford system, I only use the Pressure Pro. That means I know what my pressures really are, unlike the useless Ford system. Only disadvantage is a small constant yellow light on the dash, and every time I start the car I get a message saying their dumb system is unhappy, but hitting reset eliminates that junk.

I have the Doran Pressure Pro. Very pleased with it. A good company as well. Couple of years back the display stopped working properly, I contacted them (out of warranty by the way), they gave me a return authorization, instructed me to return the unit (sensors and all). They checked it and the sensors/sensor batteries, found a broken wire causing an intermittent short in the 12v plug. Repaired and returned. No charge.

There are cheaper options, some claim to record tire temp as well. All a matter of what's in your wallet and personal preference.
  • A lot of us use the TireTraker tpms. Works well. Uses replaceable CR1632 Lithium batteries, which are available on the TireTraker website for $7.50 for a 5-pack. I found that the batteries last about a year.

  • The Doran is a knockoff of the Pressure Pro. Our PP has worked perfectly on the same batteries for the past five years; however, replacements cost $36 each....not looking forward to that. We do remove them when stored or parked for an extended period of time. It monitors both high and low pressures plus temperature.
