Recommendations? Newbie!

Everyone keeps saying that jeeps are no good and won't work... I have talked to a jeep engineer who tests the towing ability and said the can pull the 6200#'s easily,uphill,in arizona, in the summer, with the ac on lol . So I though if I could stay at 5k or less I would be even better :)

Need more info on the Jeep - year, model, engine, rear end ratio, and if it has a factory tow package or not.
Your 5000# limit should be the maximum loaded tow weight, not a fictitious "dry weight" listed in a sales brochure. My new TT is 300# heavier than the listed weight due to the options.
You'll need a weight distribution hitch and brake controller no matter what you look at except for a pop-up.
With the short wheelbase of the Jeep and the weight limit you'll be looking at trailers no longer than 25' or so.
Local dealers are Camping World, Wilkins, Ballantyne, and Johnstons RV. We looked at them all and hit the trailer shows at the Dome, Sports Park (Elmgrove), and Syracuse. After having a hybrid for 7 years it still took us a year to find a new TT that had most of what we wanted.

the OP has no Payload for a trailer over 4-4500 lbs MAX.I told them this in their other post but...........

It is now up to them to believe the numbers.

The only advice I can give now is spend the 2000 to get a hensley hitch.Small money compared to the new Jeep and a new TT,because I believe you are determined to get more trailer than you will be comfortable with.

Actually, you might need more info. My F150 is rated to tow 9600 pounds. When I actually work the numbers, I can tow 9600 pounds only if my truck is empty, and no one else is in it with me.

Check the gvwr, the curb weight, the axle weights. The gvwr minus the curb weight is the maximum weight for the Jeep. The hitch and everything in the truck comes off this number, and approximately 9 times the remainder is the max rated gvwr of the trailer you should look at. There is more to it, but this will put you in the ball park.

Another number that Ford limits towing with is the frontal area of the trailer. It acts like a parachute brake and stresses the vehicle.

Good luck with your search. You are wise to do this kind of research before you buy..especially with a Jeep as a tow vehicle.

No specific suggestions, just a cautionary note that if 5,000 pounds is your target loaded weight, use a 4,000 pound m/l dry weight figure when you're looking at various trailers.

Advertised curb/dry weights are often watchamightcall "optimistic" and that thousand pounds of leeway for your load gives you some wiggle room.

OR just shop according to mfr's maximum gross weight listed for the unit you're looking at.
