SidecarFlip, my intent was to give the OP something to relate to, that is why I noted the weight of my TC.
On the subject of the charge wire, my preference is t never use the truck to charge the TC battery. I installed a toggle switch on my TC years ago as a disconnect, which does allow me to change my mind. I am of the belief that with the TC setup to function off grid (solar & generator) there is no benefit to compromise my truck's electrical system in any manor. It has worked well for me since 2004 on my current TC. Just my preference.
