What do most RVers do....keep the reefer cold between trips or turn it off and empty all the beer and condiments out until the next trip and turn the reefer back on?

Empty between trips and turn reefer off. But I guess that depends on how often you go out.

We frequently use / work on our TT when it's parked at home so I normally keep it stocked with beverages and keep it on (during camping months).

Before I started full-time I always left it on.

We go out every 3-4 weeks starting in May. We turn it off, wipe it down and leave it open between trips. The frig looks and smells new.

We have left it on. Keeping it on keeps or at least reduces rust on the outside of the cooling unit.I give it a good cleaning before every trip.

Don't know for sure but I know most things are better if they are used regularly. I had one RV for 5 years and never turned off the reefer.

I also had an RV reefer in an off grid house. That one was still running when I sold the house after 20 years and is still going as far as I know.

The fridge on electric has a 300 watt element and there is also a heat strip around the door gasket. I estimate the fridge costs us about $30 a month. If you are a penny pincher, you may want to empty it and shut it down between trips. We keep ours running all camping season because we are camping every 1 - 2 weeks.

The most important thing I've learned about our fridge is to make sure the door is properly closed before you drive off... :R

Since our rig is parked in our side-yard at home and plugged in 24/7 what we do with fridge is wholly dependent upon the timing of our next outing. For the most part it is left continuously on during the camping season along with keeping all the dry non-perishable items onboard ready for quick departure whether planned or on a whim.

You have beer left over from the trip??

We empty, clean and leave the fridge off in between trips. Any left over beer could be consumed during the cleaning process.
