It's here in Oregon too. They can charge whatever they want, do not have to be competitive nor closely related to anything reasonable because if you don't pay they then get you for more with fines.
I just paid more for permits and fees to build a starter home than the entire framing package cost. That's including using real plywood, good plywood, included in that package is the roof trusses as well. Its excessive. The Gv't and the medical industry have no competition.
