Reinforcing J-Wrap on Travel Trailer
Howdy!
Has anyone taken measures to reinforce the aluminum J Wrap moulding around the bottom of your corrugated travel trailer? On my old trailer, I had two sections of it torn loose while driving in heavy cross winds; the first was a section just forward of the door while we were crossing the Mojave Desert, and the second was a section on the driver's side of the trailer crossing the plains of South Dakota. The J-Wrap is pretty flimsily attached to the underside of the trailer with only a few aluminum diagonal braces connecting the bottom of the wrap to the trailer.
I am looking for a way to keep this from happening on my new rig...my thought was to use a 1x2 to sandwich the connecting edge of the wrap between the 1x2 and the underside of the trailer to distribute the holding force across the entire wrap, rather than just a few drywall screws, then adding a few more diagonal braces. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!
