First off, I admit knowing better, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. So yesterday, the alternator on our newly purchased old 2001 Chevy Tahoe starts taking a dump on a roadtrip up to BC....

Interestingly, the only reman part I've ever had a problem with was a alternator for a Toyota Sienna. O'Reilly replaced 2 under the lifetime warranty (or should I say "provided the replacement"). I don't know if you've ever worked under the hood of a minivan, but there ain't much space to spare under there and the alternator takes about an hour to get out. First one didn't work right out of the box. Of course, you don't know that until it is installed. Second one, had a bearing going out after about six months. Thankfully, the third was still going strong when we sold the van. At least it never stranded us anywhere.
