If you want a humbling and eye opening experience, take any of the new generation electric vehicles out for a spin. Amazing acceleration and with the computer controlling slip and spin etc it provides some amazing 0 to 40, 0 to 50 and 0 to 60 times.
We took a Tesla for a drive last week. 0 to 60 in 2.7 seconds. Nuts. Even at 60 miles per hour putting your foot into it snapped you back. The car was rated for 150 mph but the rep that was with us told us it would happily do more than that. Right now companies like Lamborghini, Ferrari, Mazerati etc are all looking real hard at how much money they will continue to invest in internal combustion engines. They literally woke up one day and realized they were ten years behind in technology and that a $ 100,000 American 4 door sedan with cup holders and blue tooth and a service interval of 100,000 miles literally handed them their a$$ets. :) Too funny.
Our little smart electric only has a top speed of 85 mph but from 0 to 40 mph I can easily leave most cars as if they were standing.
The new test version of the Tesla roadster is already recording 0 to 60 times of 2.3 seconds. THATS INSANE. :)
Here's a link to a video of our test drive. Hard to see the sppedo but look close and you will see it is set for KMH. From the time I hit the go pedal to the time it was over 107 KMH was less than 3 seconds (over 60 mph). Angela was in the back seat and couldn't keep the camera pointed down the street. That and she was laughing her a$$ off. It was like a freakin roller coaster.
https://youtu.be/B_p9YXaKpJMThe Tesla people are very open to anyone having a test drive. They are not salesman, no pressure, they are just facilitators. They literally can not sell you a car. You have to go on line to do that. The new consumer model will be available in about 18 months and it will be around 35,000 starting. Its going to be a great American company.
