remember when
I started driving in the late 50's so I grew up with the muscle cars of the 60's and 70's. I never had a true muscle car but did have some big V8's. Back then you either had a stick or a 3 speed auto...

IIRC, Pontiac used it. Chevrolet and Buick didn't. GMC trucks used it. They even put a splitter on it to make an 8 speed and tried it in Class 8 trucks (it didn't sell).
Army tanks used it. But then, they also used the Buick Dyna-flow!
Kaiser used it.
I think Rolls Royce used it, not sure, though.
The early ones had a rear pump in addition to the front pump, so they could be push started!
Yes, a lot of other early automatic trannys did, too.
Of course, you had to get them up to about 30 MPH to get enough pressure to engage the clutches.
That old Hydra-matic was a great unit!
