Problems don't start to arise until you get into heavier trailers with large brakes that require more power to fully engage the brakes.
A typical TT with 5k axles most likely will get full, or near full, brake effect. It will just take a higher gain setting than an aftermarket controller or a 2014 and earlier Ram.
My TH has 6k axles. I cannot set the gain per the instructions in the Ram manual with my 2015, but can with my father's 2012.
So do hydraulic brake controllers require large current flows?
I would think that light gauge wire running to the rear of the truck has something to do with it. Chris
