Been doing a bunch of reading on ramforum and here. I was getting worried because there are some good size mountains in my near future and I can't imagine not being able to slow / stop during a steep descent. I was all set to order a P2 when I read this only impacts heavier trailers and the heavy electric setting. Thanks for all the research and detailed information on this thread, you all just saved me $160 and you may save someone's life! Every 2015+ RAM owner with 10k+ trailers needs to know about this.
You are wrong..... My trailer weighs a shade over 5k empty and my 2015 3500 dually can't stop it worth a ****. I almost destroyed a Mercedes that cut me off on I95 in Florida a month ago while on spring break with my kids. I have to keep the gain set on 10 to get any braking performance at all. I cannot lock up the brakes on my camper by sliding the brake controller slide all the way over either. My 06 F250 could lock them up all day long. I recently bought a P3 and pigtail to install until FCA pulls their heads out of their asses and fixes this. I fear someone is going to have to be involved in a major accident before they stop dragging their heels on this one.
