Replacement for foam bunk mattress

Our TT is now 6 years old. The mattresses that came with it for the bunk beds were made out of foarm. Overtime this foam has become less comfortable for my daughter who is now 14. The mattresses are a bit of an odd shape so I am wondering what would be the best way to replace the mattresses. I would like to get something that will be more comfortable for my daughter.

Look under products tab and rv mattresses. It is likely you will see your bunk size for a replacement. There are twins, full, full with cut corners.

Another option is to purchase a "mattress topper" found at Wal-Mart, CostCo, Sam's Club, and other department stores. This will not be a perfect fit over your existing foam mattress, but can be neatly tucked under it.

I ordered that too. It works for me but, some of my friends say it's too firm and uncomfortable. I guess it's all what you are used too.

If your daughter is 14 she should be able to sleep on anything. When I was that age I had a tent if I was lucky. Many times I just slept in the ground using my coat as a pillow. As I said I guess it's all what you are used to.

  • We had all new mattresses made for our TT. It was at an independent mattress maker, not one of the "store brands". They specialize in RV and commercial truck mattresses. They are foam. I am not sure what type of foam but they shape to your body and then go back to normal.

Check out the yellow pages and online for mattress manufacturers in your area.
Call a trucking company and they may be able to suggest someone local.
If that fails your next option would be to buy foam and do it yourself.
  • Foam stores have all different densitys of foam material and can custom cut to your exacy specs. Other than that a custom mattress mnufacturer can make one for you.
  • I found a store in my downtown metro (Tulsa Oklahoma) that sells foam, and I had them cut the exact sizes for me. If you don't have such a place near you, it's still possible to order online. The place I went to was Oklahoma Upholstery Supply
