Replacing weather trim

I would like to replace the trim piece on the front edge of my Salem Cruise Lite. I think sliding a new piece of trim into the one inch track is straight forward, but the caulking at the top has me perplexed. It is a large blob of hard white material and I am not sure what it is. Can someone give me pointers on this job?
My dealer can’t get to it for 6 weeks, and I am leaving on a trip in a few weeks. The dealer had to replace the trim on the other side last year. The trailer is a 2017, so it’s only two years old.
