Replacing weather trim

I would like to replace the trim piece on the front edge of my Salem Cruise Lite. I think sliding a new piece of trim into the one inch track is straight forward, but the caulking at the top has me perplexed. It is a large blob of hard white material and I am not sure what it is. Can someone give me pointers on this job?

My dealer can’t get to it for 6 weeks, and I am leaving on a trip in a few weeks. The dealer had to replace the trim on the other side last year. The trailer is a 2017, so it’s only two years old.

  • The "glob" is sealant like the other seam sealant on the roof and used to seal the end. For the short term you can push the loose portion back into the channel.
  • Here is another view looking down where the trim terminates at the top near the roof. Notice all the tiny cracks in the trim.
