i have a 2002 duramax purchased new
before that i bought a new hd pickup / suburban every 5 years since 1972 when i bought my first new car , a 1972 suburban C20 with the big block 402 engine.
i make the argument that my 11 year old duramax is a better tow vehicle than a 2013 f150 or gmc 1500 .
i have incurred only minor additional servicing costs with my duramax over my previous 1997 K 2500 with the vortec 7400 gasser also ordered brand new .
for me the best truck / car / boat / TT / house / wife is the one i purchased new and maintained to the standard that i would keep it forever .
if you buy used , only buy from the original owner , not a dealer .
when you visit the guy's house you will know if the rig has been maintained properly .
